Barcelona Femení continued their perfect start to the Liga F season on Saturday, beating Logroño United 2-0 at Las Gaunas to make it five wins from five league matches.
It was not the kind of performance where Barça needed to run up the scoreline. Instead, Pere Romeu’s side showed patience, control and maturity to take care of business on the road, keeping another clean sheet in the process.
The victory also keeps Barcelona at the top of the Liga F table with a perfect record.
Mayssa Baha Makes Her Mark
The opening goal arrived in the 17th minute, and it was a particularly memorable moment for young Mayssa Baha.
The forward found the breakthrough to put Barça 1-0 ahead and give the visitors an early reward for their dominance. It was a special goal for Baha, who continues to show that Barcelona’s next generation is more than capable of stepping up when called upon.
With several first-team players unavailable, opportunities like this matter. Baha took hers.
Barcelona controlled the game for long periods after taking the lead, moving the ball patiently and forcing Logroño to spend much of the match defending.
Barça Control the Game
The numbers reflected Barcelona’s dominance.
Barça finished the match with around 72% possession and completed approximately 700 accurate passes, compared with 220 from Logroño. The hosts managed only three shots on target, while Barcelona continued to dictate the rhythm of the game.
Still, Logroño made life more difficult than the scoreline might suggest.
The home side stayed organised and worked hard without the ball, meaning Barcelona had to remain patient rather than expecting chances to come easily.
That patience eventually paid off.
Patri Guijarro Seals the Three Points
Barcelona finally got the breathing room they were looking for in the 71st minute.
Patri Guijarro found the back of the net to double Barça’s advantage and effectively put the result beyond doubt.
The goal was important not only because it secured the three points, but also because it allowed Barcelona to manage the closing stages without unnecessary pressure.
At 2-0, Barça could control the game and see it out professionally.
A Strong Start Continues
With this victory, Barcelona have now won all five of their Liga F matches this season.
Their league campaign has been particularly impressive defensively. Before this match, Barça had scored 19 goals and conceded only two in their opening four league games. The clean sheet against Logroño adds another positive to that record.
The timing of the win is also significant.
Just three days after beating Paris FC 5-2 in the Champions League, Barcelona had to quickly switch their focus back to domestic football. Rather than allowing the European victory to distract them, the team produced another controlled performance and kept their perfect league record intact.
More Than Just Three Points
For Barça Femení, this was another example of the depth within the squad.
Mayssa Baha’s goal, Patri Guijarro’s contribution and the return of Aitana Bonmatí from the bench were among the talking points from a match in which Barcelona had to manage a number of absences. Aitana came on late as Barça comfortably protected their advantage.
It was not Barcelona’s most spectacular victory, but it was an important one.
Five games. Five wins.
And once again, Barça Femení leave the pitch with three points, a clean sheet and plenty of reasons for Culés to be happy.
